JazmineJazmine is a Philadelphia native was born and raised there. Her mother Pam was a back-up singer with Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave an opportunity to be the curator at the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later were able to move into the historical place of historical significance. In 2005, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan started singing as a contralto kids' choir, before joining just a few years later, in the adult group. Sullivan was not exposed to the world of secular music for the first time. "I began singing in solos at church and a person suggested I sign up to a gospel record when I was 11. but I wasn't quite ready to go through with it," she says. In the following year, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I had the opportunity to perform "Accept what God allows" in it's Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. She performed with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year thirteen. Sullivan was the first to sign her contract to Jive Records when she was fifteen. She recorded an entire album, but the album never came out. Sullivan was later dismissed on the labels. There was a close relationship with Missy Elliott she produced many of the tracks for her debut project, such as the brash single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
