The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the arts of performing, and which is now known to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her for being in the "child prodigy" category. This was a very natural characteristic for a girl from Irish origin, and who was nurtured in her early days by talented relatives and parents. Maureen joined this wonderful sanctuary in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons' first FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as an infant and was extremely proficient in them. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. As evidenced by winning pretty much every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her dream in classical theater and singing opera.
